"The Seawall #1"

The Sea Wall #1

The sea wall had been there

for longer than the establishment,

inadvertently attached in afterthought,

connecting the long row of hotels, reaching

into a sky line heaven

of vested travelers, for it was

from an earlier era, before

turistas wallpapered the

beach, when the gente

pushed carts

or stubborn burros

carrying their loads for pay

It was a simpler time

when most everyone was yearning

not unlike now, where every

cart has a vender of one sort or other

selling a piece of Mazatlan, to

those who slip away from

other worlds of a different life,

all hoping to grab the ring

in the scant window of time

allotted, and everyone seeking the

momentary flavor, that golden

moment, when the real world

and our dreams

collide
